The Reinstate Hank campaign calls for the remittal of Opry star, and country music legend, Hank Williams. More than fifty years have passed since the tragic and untimely death of country music's greatest performer, who made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry on June 11, 1949, with the crowd demanding an unheard of six encores.
A few years later, in 1952, Hiram Hank Williams was dismissed from the Opry with the understanding that he would sober up and then return to the stage that he loved so much. Sadly, he passed away in the back seat of his car a few months later and never made that momentous return.
Despite being one of the ... continue reading

The Shadows Tribute band' @ Zaal Manders Gemert ( NL) 8/03/2008.
For me Rock’n’roll consists of a lot of different music styles, ranging from Rhythm & Blues to Rockabilly. I’ve always had a weak spot for instrumental Rock’n’roll, and no one can say that with thinking of the Shadows. The backing group of Cliff Richards in the late 50’s and early 60’s, and have contributed a lot to his success. So my wife and me where on route to Gemert on the 8th of march for a gig of “ The Shadows Tribute band” in hall Manders, a beautiful ballroom with wooden dance floor and big mirrors. This happening was organized by the “ back to the sixties” club. No rockers present that night, just people wanting to make it a pleasant ... continue reading

Concert Review: The Royal Deuces, Ace cafe Rumst 02/03/2008.
As read before the cancelled/shifted gig finally took place at the Ace Café. Guess good management never hurts anyone.
So like said on stage: The Royal Deuces, from Oakland, California, these guys were back, just to prove that last weeks gig wasn’t the best they could do. And let me tell you a good PA system, does wonders. Like Mitch told us, it isn’t easy to bring over a big PA system from the States, so a small was brought along and that doesn't have a good soundquality.
So back to Sunday night, by the time we got there, the place was still empty ( except for the band ), so after buying a round the whole café we took our place at ... continue reading

Concert Review: The Motel Men, Ace cafe Rumst 01/03/2008.
This band was contacted by Chris after the Royal Deuces show had been cancelled. Well first cancelled, then moved to Sunday. But enough about that let’s get on with The Motel Men gig. The Motel Men are a relatively new band from the Sint-Niklaas region. This 3 piece band was born out of their shared love for 50’s country, swing and rock’n’roll.
On stage: Strawberry Steve: guitar and vocals, The Mouse: Upright Bass and vocals and to our surprise a lemon, Magnus “ The Russian” Johnson: drums. The place wasn’t filled as usual but those there really enjoyed what this band had to offer and it was great fun.
Ok some people may say it seems ... continue reading

Billy Lee Riley Health Update
I just wanted to give a update on Billy Lee. It was a rough week for us. Billy went through hip replacement on the 20th and did great, but on Thursday he developed chest pains, on Sunday he was taken in for emergency bypass surgery (5 bypasses) he did fine on that but on Tues he developed a bleed with a clot in the chest wall that required another emergency surgery. We got out of ICU on Friday afternoon. Billy is now doing great, he is in good spirits and knows that a lot of people were praying for him. He is a very strong and positive person and is planning a full recovery and being in better form than he ever was. Just keep us in your prayers ... continue reading
